COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team opened up the 2011-12 season on Saturday afternoon by hosting Dickinson College in a Centennial Conference meet. In a tight meet, the Red Devils came away with a 111.5 to 93.5 win.
The meet started out with the Bears winning the opening 400 yard medley relay as the team of freshman Anne Ludwig (Southborough, Mass./Algonquin School), sophomore Eva Russell (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot), senior Danielle Yentz (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and freshman Chelsea Kozior (Holland, Pa./Council Rock South) winning the event.
In the 1000 free, sophomore Malena Lair Ferrari (Bethesda, Md./The German School) was second in the event with a time of 11:06.14. Kozior was second in the 200 free with a time of 2:26.75.
Junior Lianna Foster-Bey (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) was the top finisher in the 50 free at 25.50, followed by Ludwig in a tie for second at 26.07.
Lair Ferrari was tops in the 200 IM at 2:18.92, with Foster-Bey picking up a second place finish in the 100 free at 56.42. Lair Ferrari later took home a top finish in the 200 back with a time of 2:14.47.
Sophomore Molly Serfass (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) was second in the 500 free at 5:40.79, while Russell was first in the 200 breaststroke at 2:36.50.
Finally, the team of Kozior, Serfass, junior Kelsey Yoo (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic) and Kimberly Bullock was second in the 400 free relay at 3:56.27.
