Women's Swimming fourth at Centennials

GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team closed the 2010-11 season by finishing fourth at the Centennial Conference Championships hosted by Gettysburg College. During the three day event, the Bears earned 407 points.

Freshman Malena Lair Ferrari (Bethesda, Md./German School) clinched the lone gold medals for the Bears as she won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:05.13, which set a pool record and was a NCAA provisional qualifying time. She also set a NCAA provisional time in the 100 back, winning the event with a time of 57.99. Lair Ferrari also finished third in the 100 fly with a time of 59.37.

Senior Bridget Winn (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville) was fourth with a time of 1:08.56 in the 100 breaststroke, with sophomore Sarah Kolosky (Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) in seventh at 1:10.57.

Freshman Eva Russell (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) was sixth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.15

Freshman Molly Serfass (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) was eighth in the 1650 freestyle at 18:35.05, while sophomore Lianna Foster-Bey (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) was eighth in the 50 free at 25.24.

In the relay events, the team of Lair Ferrari, Winn, junior Danielle Yentz (Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and Kolosky was second in the 400 medley with a time of 4:00.24, with the team of Foster-Bey, sophomore Jeannie Weaver (Mays Landing, Pa./Oakcrest), sophomore Kelsey Yoo (Whitehall, Pa./Allentown Central Catholic), and Kolosky sixth in the 200 free at 1:41.05.

The team of Lair Ferrari, freshman Bryn O'Neill (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Germantown Academy), Serfass and Yentz were fourth in the 800 free relay at 8:01.16.
