Women's Swimming closes up first semester with win over LVC

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team closed the first semester out in fine fashion, defeating Lebanon Valley 119-80 Saturday afternoon in a non-conference meet.

The Bears started off the meet by going 1-2 in the opening 200 yard medley relay as the team of freshman Bryn O'Neill (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Germantown Academy), senior Bridget Winn (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville), sophomore Jeannie Weaver (Mays Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) and junior Kathryn Pall (Havertown, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame De Namur) won the event with a time of 2:01.54. The team of freshman Regina Shetler (Moorestown, N.J/Moorestown), sophomore Sarah Kolosky (Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes), sophomore Lianna Foster-Bey (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) and junior Kelly Reynolds (Newark, Del./Sanford School) took second at 2:03.61.

In the 1650 free, freshman Molly Searfass (Williamsport, Pa./Loyalsock) took the top spot with a time of 19:52.35.

In the 200 free, the Bears swept the event as Kolosky was the top finisher at 2:07.69, followed by sophomore Kaylani Wertman (Allentown, Pa./William Allen) in second at 2:14.76, Reynolds was third at 2:15.84.

In the 50 free, freshman Malena Lair Ferrari (Bethesda, Md./The German School) was first at 25.99, followed by Foster-Bey in second at 26.41.

In the 400 IM, freshman Eva Russell (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) was first at 4:55.07, with freshman Kimberly Bullock (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) in third at 5:29.39. Pall won the 100 fly at 1:07.79, with sophomore Sarah Ryan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) in third at 1:12.07.

In the 100 free, Lair Ferrari won the event at 55.63, with Weaver winning the 100 back at 1:06.40. In the 500 free, O'Neill took the top time with a mark of 5:34.85, with Reynolds in third at 5:56.56.

The Bears then swam exhibition in the final two events.

Ursinus not be in action until Saturday, January 15, when they travel to York.
