Women's Swimming outlasts Dickinson, 135-127

CARLISLE, Pa. – It was a record setting day for the Ursinus College women's swimming team as the Bears nipped Dickinson by a 135-127 score, capturing the final event of the day, the 400 yard free relay to take the meet.

During the meet, three school records were set and one swimmer, freshman Malena Lair Ferrari (Bethesda, Md./The German School), hit a NCAA provisional mark in the 100 back. Her time of 58.73, in addition to being a school record, set the provisional mark. She later set a record in the 200 back with a time of 2:08.19.

The relay team of Lair Ferrari, senior Bridget Winn (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville), freshman Regina Shetler (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown) and sophomore Sarah Kolosky (Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) set a school mark in the 200 medley with a time of 1:51.61.

Ursinus had several first place finishes on the day, including a first-place finish from Winn in the 100 breast at 1:09.27. Shetler won the 100 free at 56.06, with freshman Eva Russell (Oakdale, N.Y./Connetquot) taking the top spot in the 200 breaststroke at 2:36.81.

Freshman Bryn O'Neill (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Germantown Academy) won the 500 free at 5:37.63, with Lair Ferrari winning the 100 fly at 1:00.40.

The team of Shetler, O'Neill, Kolosky and sophomore Lianna Foster-Bey (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) won the final relay by .77 seconds with a time of 3:46.00 to take the meet.

Russell had a second place finish in the 100 breaststroke at 1:12.91, with Shetler taking second in the 50 free at 25.95. Kolosky was second in the 100 free at 57.39, with Russell going second in the 200 IM at 2:19.94.
