Women's Swimming falls to Swarthmore

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's swimming team came up on the short side of a Centennial Conference meet with Swarthmore, falling 143-119.

Ursinus started off strong as the Bears captured the opening 200 yard medley relay with a time of 1:55.55. The team of Malena Lair Ferrari, Bridget Winn, Jeannie Weaver and Sarah Kolosky took the top spot.

Ursinus then went 1-2 in the 200 freestyle as Regina Shetler won the event with a time of 2:03.09, followed by Bryn O'Neill in second place at a time of 2:03.47.

In the 100 back, Lair Ferrari, just missed the pool record as she finished first with a time of 1:00.75. Winn then won the 100 breast with a mark of 1:10.85, followed by Shetler winning the 50 free at 26.47, just out distancing Sarah Eppley of Swarthmore.

Kolosky won the 100 free at 56.71, with Lair Ferrari taking the 200 back at 2:12.79, setting a new Ursinus pool record.

O'Neill won the 500 free with a time of 5:31.67, with Lair Ferrari finishing second in the 100 butterfly at 1:01.53.

In the final relay of the night, the Bears finished second in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:48.03. The time was faster than the old pool record, but, Swarthmore holds the pool record as they finished first with a time of 3:47.99.
