COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Less than 48 hours after returning back from
their winter training trip to Costa Rica, the Ursinus College swim
teams held a dual meet with York (Pa.) Saturday afternoon.
The women prevailed 140-119 to improve to 8-1, while the men lost
to the Spartans 154-108 to fall to 5-4.
Ursinus took the opening 400 yard medley relay with a time of
4:18.29 as the team of senior Elizabeth Gombosi (Wellsboro,
Pa./Wellsboro), junior Bridget Winn (Coatesville,
Pa./Coatesville), sophomore Danielle Yentz
(Springfield, Pa./Springfield) and freshman Sarah
Kolosky (Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) took the top
spot.
In the 1000 free, senior Emily Herman (Glenside,
Pa./Cheltenham Township) won the event with a time of
11:07.86, while senior Lyndsay MacFeeters (Haddonfield,
N.J./Haddonfield) took second at 11:26.89.
In the 200 free, junior Jess Saloky (Feasterville,
Pa./Neshaminy) took second at 2:07.89, Gombosi took second
in the 100 backstroke at 1:05.40.
The women went 1-2 in the 100 back as Winn won the event at
1:09.42, followed by Saloky in second place at 1:14.40. Herman
picked up her second top finish of the day in the 200 butterfly
with a time of 2:22.11.
In the 50 free, Kolosky finished second at 26.27, then finished
first in the 100 free at 57.45.
Yentz took second in the 200 backstroke at 2:19.43, with Winn
getting her second top finish of the day in the 200 breaststroke at
2:33.85. Saloky finished second at 2:37.35.
MacFeeters captured the 500 freestyle at 5:35.97, with freshman
Kaylani Wertman (Allentown, Pa./William Allen)
finishing second at 5:42.75.
Herman took second in the 100 butterfly at 1:05.90, with Gombosi
taking second in the 200 IM at 2:25.92.
Ursinus swam exhibition in the final relay event, the 400 free
relay.
