WESTMINSTER, Md. - Ursinus swept its Centennial Conference
opener on Saturday, as the Bears won both sides of a meet from
McDaniel.
The women won 59-35, while the men won 51-43. Both teams are now
4-0 and 1-0 in the Centennial Conference.
The women started with a top finish in the 400-yard medley relay as
freshman Sarah Ryan (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of
Lourdes), junior Bridget Winn (Coatesville,
Pa./Coatesville), sophomore Kathryn Pall
(Havertown, Pa./Academy of Notre Dame De Namur) and senior
Melissa Krupa (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan)
won the event with a time of 4:36.05.
In the 1000-free, senior Lyndsay MacFeeters (Haddonfield,
N.J./Haddonfield) finished second with a time of 11:26.90.
In the 200-free, sophomore Danielle Yentz (Springfield,
Pa./Springfield) finished second with a time of
2:09.42.
In the 50-free, Ursinus went 1-2 as freshman Lianna
Foster-Bey (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) finished first with a
time of 25.92, followed by freshman Jeannie Weaver (Mays
Landing, N.J./Oakcrest) in second at 26.18.
In the 200-IM, junior Jessica Saloky (Feasterville,
Pa./Neshaminy) won the event with a time of 2:23.99,
followed by senior Elizabeth Gombosi (Wellsboro,
Pa./Wellsboro) in second place at 2:27.23.
Yentz picked her first individual win in the 200-butterfly with a
time of 2:23.78. Ursinus again went 1-2 in the 100-free as freshman
Sarah Kolosky (Fishkill, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes)
won the event with a time of 56.68, followed by Weaver in second
place at 57.15.
Gombosi took first in the 200-fly with a time of 2:24.48, while
MacFeeters picked up top finish number two on the day with a win in
the 500-free at 5:39.55. Senior Emily Herman (Glenside,
Pa./Cheltenham Township) was second with a time of
5:47.92.
Ursinus then swam exhibition in the final two events.
