COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - In a meet that came down to the final relay,
the Ursinus College swim team split a dual meet with Dickinson on a
snowy Saturday afternoon.
The women (6-1, 3-1 Centennial) defeated the Red Devils (2-2, 1-1
Centennial) by a 110-95 score, while the men (4-3, 1-3 Centennial)
lost to Dickinson (1-2, 1-0 Centennial) by a carbon copy 110-95
count.
Women
The women won the final 200-yard free relay to seal the win. The
team of freshman Jeannie Weaver (Mays Landing,
N.J./Oakcrest), freshman Sarah Kolosky (Fishkill,
N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes), senior Melissa Krupa
(Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) and freshman
Lianna Foster-Bey (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) finished
first with a time of 1:43.50.
Ursinus started off with a win in the 200-yard medley relay as the
team of senior Elizabeth Gombosi (Wellsboro,
Pa./Wellsboro), junior Bridget Winn (Coatesville,
Pa./Coatesville), Weaver and Kolosky won the event with a
time of 1:57.20.
Senior Emily Herman (Glenside, Pa./Cheltenham
Township) won the 1000-free with a time of 11:18.77,
followed by senior Lyndsay MacFeeters (Haddonfield,
N.J./Haddonfield) in second at 11:26.57.
Kolosky took home a second-place finish in the 50-free at 26.28,
followed by a second-place finish from Yentz in the 200-IM at
2:24.09. Yentz finished first in the 100-fly at 1:04.83, while
Gombosi took top honors in the 100-back at 1:05.57. Yentz was
second in that event at 1:06.60.
Herman got her second top finish of the day in the 500-free at
5:34.54, with MacFeeters taking second at 5:35.28.
Winn was the last top finisher of the day, as she won the
100-breast at 1:10.82.
Ursinus goes to Arcadia on Saturday.
