Women's Soccer Defeat Mules on the Road

Allentown, PA- Ursinus College women's soccer (3-11-2) earned their first Centennial Conference win on the season Wednesday night. The victory came on the road against the Muhlenberg Mules (3-11-1) with the help of goals from Izzy Allocco and Gracia DiBianco. It was an exciting match right from the start filled with a few personal milestones from the Bears.

In the 10th minute, Muhlenberg's Noemi Di Cori opened the scoring with a goal on an assist by Kate Johnson. However, the Bears were resilient, striking back in the 24th minute when Izzy Allocco netted her first collegiate marker to tie things up 1-1 with plenty of time remaining.

The score would not stay tied for long. Just before the half ended, Gracia DiBianco put Ursinus on top 2-1 with help from a Skylar Knapp assist! The pair are both Seniors, and the goal was DiBianco's first at the collegiate level while Knapp's assist was her first this season.

At halftime, Ursinus led 2-1 and carried a slim lead in shots (7-6) and shots on goal (3-2). Ursinus goalkeeper Mandy Carideo also tallied a notable 2 saves in the first stanza.

After the break, the Bears continued their impressive play in the close match. On the attack, Ciara Rago had a shot on goal that was saved by Muhlenberg keeper Grace Hoffman just 15 seconds into the half.

Although Ursinus did not score again, their defense held the 2-1 lead en route to a massive conference victory. Mandy Carideo had a great day in goal with 3 more saves in the second half, bringing her total to 5 for the match.

Ursinus will wrap up their 2021 campaign on Saturday at McDaniel.
