Women's Soccer Scores Twice in Shutout Against Rutgers-Camden

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Ursinus College women's soccer team scored a pair of goals while goalkeeper Sabrina Doherty tallied her fifth shutout of the season as the Bears defeated Rutgers-Camden, 2-0 on Wednesday night.

The Bears (4-8-2) found themselves on the attack early, earning a trio of corner kicks, but were unable to capitalize. Brittany Banks tallied the first shot of the night, but it was blocked as the game remained scoreless. Finally, in the 15th minutes, the Bears attack found the back of the net. Kelly Gardus got hold of a loose ball in the box and fired the ball past the keeper to give the Bears a 1-0 lead.

The chances for the Bears continued, but they were unable to find netting for a second time in the half. Banks sent a shot high over the crossbar and then Ursinus tallied two more tries from the corner. The hosts outshot the Scarlet Raptors, 4-1, in the first 45-minutes.

Ursinus continued its attack in the second half. Raya Mount sent a header just wide of the net in the opening 10 minutes and then Julia Ewing fired a shot just over the crossbar. The Bears capitalized in the 84th minute after Gracia DiBianco found Tatum Omlor in the box on a cross, and Omlor fired a shot at the right post past the keeper for a 2-0 lead. The goal was the first of Omlor's career.

Doherty remained solid in net throughout the night, turning away both shots that Rutgers-Camden put on goal. The Bears outshot the Scarlet Raptors, 10-4 on the night and had a 7-3 advantage in corner attempts.

Ursinus will honor its seniors before playing host to No. 5 Johns Hopkins in Saturday's home finale.
