Women's Soccer Scores Five Goals to Beat Keystone in Home Opener

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's soccer team took the field for the first time on Friday night against Keystone. A barrage of goals in the second half led the Bears to a 5-0 victory over the Giants to earn the first win of the season.

A trio of first time goals by Morgan Raley, Caitlin O'Neill, and Brittany Banks led the charge to pair with Sabrina Doherty's first clean sheet of the year.

The first shot of the night came from Keystone but it was Ursinus that recorded the next 40. The Bears missed a couple of chances in the early goings, but finally capitalized in the 22nd minute when Angela Gervasi latched on to a long pass, dribbled in, and beat the keeper low right.

While dominating the first half, the Bears had just one goal to show for it as they headed into the second leading 1-0.

That all changed 2:30 into the second half.

The freshman midfielder, Raley, scored her first goal in the first game of her career to give the Bears a two-goal lead. Raley teamed up with a fellow freshman, Raya Mount, on the goal as she took the through ball and beat the keeper low left.

The attack didn't stop there.

Eight shots separated the first goal of the half and the second. In the 60th minute Raley centered a cross to Julia Ewing who side footed it in at the near post to score her first goal of the season and put the Bears up, 3-0.

The Bears added to their lead in the 87th minute when the junior defender, Banks, scored the first goal of her career that deflected off a defended and bounced in. The fifth and final goal of the night came off of the foot of O'Neill for the first of her career.
