LANCASTER, Pa. – Following a prolific conclusion to her first collegiate season, Ursinus College women's soccer freshman Kelly Gardus was selected as the Centennial Conference co-player of the week.
Gardus tallied three goals and an assist to help the Bears finish with victories over Washington College and Bryn Mawr and post their first winning season since 2015. The rookie netted the game-winner in the 76th minute of Wednesday's 1-0 result over the Shorewomen, then came back with two more markers and her first career assist in Saturday's 8-1 rout of the Owls.
Gardus was an incredibly efficient sniper in her debut campaign, notching five goals on just six shots. She finished second on the team in both goals and points (11) and is the first Bears rookie to score at least five goals in a season since senior Mackenzie Groff did it in 2015.
