Women's Soccer Shut Out at McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. – The Ursinus College women's soccer team went toe to toe with one of Division III's stingiest defenses on Saturday at McDaniel, locking the hosts in a scoreless grind until the Green Terror broke through in the 84th minute to snatch a 1-0 Centennial Conference victory.

Christina Wroblewski broke the stalemate to keep the Green Terror (9-0, 2-0) undefeated on the season and preserve a shutout streak that has now reached eight games and just shy of 750 minutes of game time. McDaniel surrendered two goals to St. Mary's (Md.) in its season opener back on September 1 and has not conceded a goal since. The Green Terror is ranked No. 24 in the D3soccer.com national poll.

Ursinus (3-5-1, 1-2) was only outshot, 12-10, but nine of McDaniel's attempts were on target to only three for the Bears. Senior goalkeeper Courtney Sullivan was up to the challenge, making eight saves to move past Cara Goldberg (2001-03) and into fourth all-time in program history. But Wroblewski's blast eluded her grasp, and Sara McDonald was able to stop a shot by junior Stephanie Donahue to help McDaniel hang on.

Donahue and senior Erin Farrell led the Bears with two shots each, and Ursinus' 10 efforts were spread out amongst eight players. Ursinus had a 6-4 advantage in corner kicks.

The women's soccer team is back home on Wednesday, October 5 against Haverford. Kick-off is set for 7:30 p.m.
