Women's Soccer Surrenders Late Lead at Arcadia

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's soccer team appeared set to take home its first victory of the season when it battled Arcadia on the road Wednesday night, but the Bears saw a late lead slip away and fell to the three-time defending ECAC South champions, 2-1.

In the 73rd minute, senior Erin Farrell collected the ball right outside of the goalmouth and found the back of the net to put Ursinus (0-2) on top 1-0 with the 10th marker of her career.

Despite strong play from Bears goalkeeper Courtney Sullivan, who finished with a season-high 11 saves, the Knights (4-0) were able to regroup and strike back with a pair of quick tallies in the final five minutes of play to take a match from Ursinus at home for the second time in three seasons. Lennon Kramer netted both goals in the span of exactly a minute, making her the all-time leading scorer in Arcadia history.

Sullivan's 11 stops tied her career high and moved her into sixth all-time on the Ursinus leaderboard. The captain's stellar night nearly helped the Bears steal a victory on a night in which they were outshot, 24-8. Kramer recorded 10 shots by herself, the last two finding their intended target.

Taelor Rivera had five saves for Arcadia, which has posted 12 consecutive winning seasons.

Senior Jeannie Jasinski led the Bears with three shots, with Farrell and fellow senior Jacqueline Smiler adding two each.

Looking for its first win, Ursinus will travel to Oneonta, New York this weekend to compete against Hartwick and Oneonta State in the Mayor's Cup.
