Early goal sparks Women's Soccer to 4-0 win over Shenandoah

GLASSBORO, N.J. – The Ursinus College women's soccer team got goals from four different players as the Bears (2-0) defeated Shenandoah (0-2) 4-0 in the first game of the Profs Soccer Classic hosted by Rowan University on Friday afternoon.

Junior Jeannie Jasinski (Hilltown, Pa./Pennridge) had a goal and two assists for the Bears, while freshman forward Mackenzie Groff (Allentown, Pa./Salisbury) had a goal and an assist for Ursinus.

Groff had the game-winning goal for the Bears, quite early as she scored on a pass from Jasinski just 14 seconds into the match. Groff hit the shots from the right top of the box for the early lead.

Jasinski would score the Bears' second goal, on a shot from the top of the box from Groff, in the 54th minute for a 2-0 lead.

Junior Erin Farrell (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) would score a goal in the 63rd minute on a pass from Jasinski that got by the Shenandoah goalkeeper for a 3-0 lead.

Finally, with just six seconds left, sophomore Stephanie Donahue (Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) scored on a free kick from just outside the box.

The Bears had a 13-6 advantage on shots, with junior Courtney Sullivan (Maple Glen, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) making one save in 73 minutes, while sophomore Marisa Kalkstein (Owings Mills, Md./Franklin) played the final 18 minutes.

Ursinus will take on Ithaca Saturday in the second day of the classic.
