BALTIMORE, Md. – The Ursinus College wrestling team completed a trip down the Johns Hopkins Centennial Tri-Meet, falling to the Blue Jays and Washington and Lee in Centennial Conference action Saturday.

Senior Christopher Tan earned a pair of wins on the day, both by major decision, to stretch his individual winning streak to ten bouts. Senior Deon Edmond joined Tan in earning a pair of victories for the Bears (4-3, 0-3).

Junior William McGinley went 1-1 on the day, but both of McGinley's matches were close, with the latter deciding the match against Washington and Lee.

Tan got the Bears on the board with a 13-1 victory over Christian Vallis at 125 before Johns Hopkins reeled off seven straight wins. Edmond was able to stop the run with a 13-4 win against Max Fleming at 197 to get the Bears closer before McGinley made it two wins in a row for Ursinus, earning a close 6-5 win over Henri Behaeghel to close out the dual.

Tan kicked things with a win for the Bears, earning an 18-7 major opposite Ethan Hartman before junior Derek Gulotta followed his teammate up with a pinfall of Matt Muller in just 20 seconds.

Washington and Lee took the next five matches before freshman Ben Maack stopped the bleeding, earning a win by pin against Patrick Hofstedt in 39 seconds. Edmond made it back-to-back wins for the Bears, winning by major decision, 11-3, against Zach England. The victory gave the Bears a 20-19 lead on the scoreboard heading to the final match – a 285-pound bout between McGinley and Washington and Lee's Mathew Kaminer.

Kaminer got on the board first with an escape in the second but McGinley got one of his own in the third before the match went to overtime. Kaminer was able to get the takedown by staying in bounds by his toes to steal the victory, 3-1, giving his squad the 22-20 victory.
