FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Several members of the Ursinus College wrestling team were able to escape the chilly weather and compete in the Citrus Invitational in Florida.

Senior Deon Edmond paced the Bears on the weekend, getting off to a hot start and advancing to the 197-pound semifinal round while freshman Ben Maack made a strong push in the 184 consolation rounds. Edmond finished the tournament with an appearance in the 5th-place match, ultimately coming away with a 6th-place finish while Maack earned an 8th-place finish in the 184-bracket.

Freshman Leroy Brown wrapped up Friday 1-2 thanks to an 11-4 decision over Augsburg's Shawn Barth in the second consolation round. Brown fell in the third consolation round 3-0.

Maack received a bye to start the first day's events, falling in the second round. Maack rebounded by winning his next two matches. He earned his first win of the day thanks to an 8-5 decision over Muhlenberg's Jake Gordon. Maack later topped another Mule, pinning Tommy Desisto in 48 seconds and followed it up with a 12-10 decision over NYU's Justin Kligerman. Maack was pinned by Cornell College's Bryce Overson on Saturday morning and lost the 7th-place bout in a tight, 3-1 decision.

Edmond kicked off the day with a victory, topping Augsburg's Brent Chambers in a 4-1 decision. He'd advance to the semifinals by way of an 11-2 major decision over John Carroll's Russell Porter. Edmond was pinned by Muhlenberg's Gennaro Cerminara in the semis on Saturday, but fell to Cornell College's Chris Lyons in a close 2-1 decision. Edmond wrestled in the 5th place bout, falling in a 2-0 decision.

Junior Zebulin Pfeiffer pinned his way to the quarterfinal round, putting Liberty's Alex Hicks on the mat in 4:39. He'd finish the day 1-2.
