Grous, Sherry Earn All-Region Honors

2016 IWLCA All-Region Teams

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Junior defender Lisa Grous and freshman midfielder Bridget Sherry of the Ursinus College women's lacrosse team have been named second team All-Metro Region selections by the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), the organization announced Friday afternoon.

This marks the second straight season that Ursinus has placed a pair of players on the all-region squad; Kitty Dawson and Margaret Philbin were both second team choices a year ago.

Grous was a first team All-Centennial Conference honoree after a sparkling season anchoring the Bears defense. A second team all-league choice last year, Grous was second on the team in ground balls (29), draw controls (43), and caused turnovers (16) while making 15 starts in 16 games.

A second team all-conference and all-region selection in both field hockey and lacrosse, Sherry paced Ursinus with 45 draw controls, 33 ground balls, and 21 caused turnovers (the most by a Bear since 2013). Sherry, who also provided 13 goals and eight assists, was the first player in program history to be named CC Rookie of the Year.

Ursinus finished 8-8 overall and 4-5 in CC play, its best league mark in four seasons.
