Falcons soar over WLax

GRANTHAM, Pa. – Nationally-ranked Messiah went on a 10-0 scoring run as the Falcons (4-0) handed Ursinus (2-1) an 18-5 loss on Friday in women's lacrosse play.

Ursinus had forged an early 2-2 tie before the Falcons scored ten goals over a 11:19 span.

Ursinus was led by two goals from senior attack Kim Peifer (Collegeville, Pa./Methacton), while senior midfielder Alyssa Thren (Barto, Pa./Upper Perkiomen) and junior defender Elizabeth Chatburn (Dresher, Pa./Upper Dublin) each had one.

Peifer and freshman midfielder Kitty Dawson (Hillsborough, N.J./Hillsborough) each had two draw controls, with sophomore attack Amber Moyer (Womelsdorf, Pa./Conrad Weiser) and sophomore midfielder Caroline Cannon (Garrison, N.Y./James I. O'Neill) each having four ground balls.

In goal, three players split time with freshman Alexandra Duch (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo), junior goalkeeper Jackie Kimmel (Hatboro, Pa./Hatboro-Horsham) and sophomore goalkeeper Riley Pembroke (Great Falls, Va./Langley) each playing. Duch had two saves in 17:30, Kimmel had two saves in 12:39 while Pembroke had nine saves in 29:51.

Ursinus will travel to Cabrini next Thursday.
