Women's Golf Hosts Spring Tournament

ELVERSON, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's golf team put up a strong showing at its spring invitational on Tuesday, placing all three of its entrants inside the top 10 overall on a beautiful afternoon at Stonewall North.

Muhlenberg ran away with the team title at 345, and the Mules also produced the individual medalist in Kat Hodges, who claimed the crown on a tiebreaker with Alvernia's Emily Gilbert after the pair carded matching 76's. Hodges' 4 on the par-5 18th edged out Gilbert's 5 and garnered her the trophy.

Sophomore Rebecca Chiger was one shot off her season low with an 82 on the 5886-yard track, finishing in a tie for fourth with Muhlenberg's Aine Filler. Chiger posted birdies on the par-5 3rdas well as the par-4 10th.

Sophomore Emily McGarrigle registered an 89 to place ninth overall, rebounding from a 49 on the front nine holes to record five pars and a 40 on the back.

Junior Sarah Thompson rounded out the Ursinus contingent with a 92, tied for her second-best round of the season. She had three pars and a birdie on the 3rd.

The women's golf team returns to action at the Arcadia Knight Invitational, its final tune-up before the Centennial Conference Championship, on Monday, April 17.
