Women's Golf Completes Record-Setting Weekend

Women's Golf Completes Record-Setting Weekend

ELKTON, Md. – The Ursinus College women's golf team spent the weekend establishing new program records as they hosted the annual Revolutionary Collegiate Classic at Patriots Glen National Golf Club, breaking the previous marks for one-day and two-day team score as well as two-day individual score in a historic performance.

SUNY-Cortland captured the team trophy with a two-day team card of 663, spurred by a 148 (73-75) from Danielle Bambola, who won the individual title by 14 strokes over teammate Mallory Rosch.

Ursinus fired a school-record 336 on Sunday to close the weekend with a 685 (349-336—685) and take second place honors, with Marymount (707) in third, Muhlenberg (720) in fourth, and Susquehanna (824) in fifth.

The Bears' two-day score of 685 was also good for a school record, and the 336 on Sunday eclipsed the previous program benchmark, set in a dual match against Gettysburg last season, by eight strokes.

Additionally, sophomore Rebecca Chiger registered the top two-day tournament score in school history, placing third overall with a 163 (82-81) and coming within one stroke of matching her own program mark for lowest round.

Classmate Emily McGarrigle turned in a consistent performance for the Bears, scoring a 166 (84-82) to land in the top five of the individual standings for the first time this season.

Another sophomore, Matison Leand, played the best round of her collegiate career on Sunday, an 81 that fell a stroke shy of matching the program record held by Chiger and McGarrigle. She carded a 90 in the first round for a cumulative 171 that was good for a tie for ninth overall.

Junior Sarah Thompson (93-92—185) notched her two best rounds of the season on back-to-back days and finished 17th overall.

Junior Shelby Bryant rounded out the Bears' showing with a 250 (120-130), with her first-round card serving as her best of the fall.

The women's golf team concludes its fall campaign on Wednesday, October 19 at the Eastern Invitational.
