Women's Golf Tops Crusaders in Spring Dual

STEVENS, Pa. – A few days after winning its second championship of the season, the Ursinus College women's golf defeated Alvernia in a dual match held at Foxchase Golf Club on Friday. The Bears registered a team score of 371 at the site of this year's Centennial Conference championship, while the Crusaders posted a 402.

Alvernia's Emily Gilbert carded the top score of the day, an 11-over 83 on the 5801-yard course.

After Gilbert, Ursinus boasted six of the top seven individual scores. Freshman Emily McGarrigle led the way for the second straight event, this time recording an 89 (+17), just one stroke off her lowest score of the spring.  She had seven pars, including three straight to start the afternoon.

Fellow rookie Rebecca Chiger logged six pars on her way to a 90, her third round of 90 or better in four spring appearances. Senior Rebecca Honor and freshman Matison Leand tallied matching rounds of 96, and sophomore Sara Thompson finished with a 103.

Junior Julia Senkevich (105) and sophomore Shelby Bryant (122) competed as individuals for Ursinus.
