Women's Basketball Falls to F&M in Season Finale

LANCASTER, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's basketball team closed out its season on Saturday with a loss to Franklin & Marshall, 67-55. Lydia Konstanzer led the Bears with 18 points and eight rebounds while Aliyah Stephens added 14 points as well.

The two sides came out matching each other shot for shot. Konstanzer put the Bears on the board with an early jumper. With the game tied at nine points apiece, the Diplomats closed out the opening quarter on a 12-4 run as the Bears found themselves trailing 21-13.

The Diplomats took the momentum from their late first-quarter run and kept it going in the second. Franklin & Marshall extended its lead to double-digits as the Bears went into the half trailing, 33-23.

Franklin & Marshall kept its lead at double-digits throughout the second half, leading by as much 18, including 50-35 heading into the fourth quarter. Trailing 61-43 with 5:29 remaining, the Bears came clawing back.

Stephens made consecutive lay-ins to bring the Bears within 15 and then Alyssa Martin brought it all the back to a 10-point deficit at 63-53 to cap off a 10-2 run. With two minutes remaining, Ursinus tried to keep the late rally going, but the Diplomats kept their distance to hang on as the Bears fell, 67-55.

The Bears shot 32.8% (19-of-58) from the field to F&M's 36.8% and were out-rebounded 61-34.

Ursinus wraps up a season that didn't go as it would have hoped. The Bears lost their final six games and came up short a total six times in games decided by three points or less.
