Porada Shares CC Player of the Week Honors

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Senior forward Jessica Porada (Morristown, N.J./Morris Catholic) has been named the Centennial Conference Women's Basketball Co-Player of the Week along with Muhlenberg sophomore guard Christina Manning.

Porada averaged 20.7 points and 7.7 rebounds per game during a 3-0 week for the Bears (4-3, 4-0), who are off to their fastest start in CC play since the 1996-1997 campaign. She shot 44.8 percent from the field (26-of-58) and 76.9 percent from the line (10-of-13), adding three assists and four steals.

Porada began the week with 19 points on 9-of-14 shooting against Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday, helping Ursinus pull away in the second half of a 71-63 victory. Porada matched that total in a 59-49 triumph over Dickinson on Thursday, adding seven rebounds.

Porada then carried the Bears to a 50-49 win over Johns Hopkins, their first against the Blue Jays in 10 tries. The senior posted game highs of 24 points and 14 rebounds, the 25th double-double of her career, and scored the go-ahead and eventual winning baskets in the waning minutes.

Porada currently ranks second in the CC in scoring (17.7), sixth in rebounding (8.3), and seventh in free-throw percentage (76.7). Her 54 made field goals lead the league, and Porada has scored in double figures in all seven games this season.

Behind Porada's strong play, the Bears sit tied with McDaniel atop the conference standings. Ursinus closes the 2015 portion of its schedule with non-conference home games against Cabrini on Thursday and Lancaster Bible on Saturday.
