Women's Basketball takes out Washington College, 69-49

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus sophomore guard Gianna Pownall (Philadelphia, Pa./Springside Chestnut Hill Academy) had 16 points, with junior forward Jessica Porada (Morristown, N.J./Morris Catholic) adding in 15 as the Bears (5-8, 4-3 Centennial) defeated Washington College (5-9, 1-6 Centennial) 69-49 on Tuesday night in women's basketball action.

Junior guard Alyssa Polimeni scored 13 as the Bears put four players in double figures.

For Washington, who shot 25.4 percent from the field, the Shorewomen got eight points off the bench from freshman forward Katherine Moore.

Ursinus led for most of the game, taking as much as a 22 point lead in the second half before Washington mounted a comeback and got to within ten with 3:37 left in the game. However, the Shorewomen would not get closer. In fact, Washington did not convert a field goal after that point.

Ursinus had a 43-41 lead on the glass, with Polimeni with nine and junior forward Elana Roadcloud (Roslyn, Pa./Springside School) eight. Roadcloud had 11 points to complete the fourth player in double figures.

The Bears take on Gettysburg at home on Thursday.
