COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus College sophomore forward and standing Centennial Conference Player of the Week  Jessica Porada continued with another strong performance against Washington College (7-15, 6-10) scoring a career high 31 points and nine rebounds as Ursinus (11-11, 8-8 CC) won another close battle defeating the Shorewomen  67-61 Saturday afternoon in Helfferich Gymnasium. 

The Bears stay alive in the hunt for the Centennial Conference playoffs behind Porada shooting 12-17 (71%) from the field. Porada broke her career high of 24 that was set in a 70-58 loss against Johns Hopkins November 23, 2013.  

Seniors Diamond Lewis and Devin Butchko were honored for their final home game in Helfferich, with Lewis putting up ten points and scooping four rebounds.

Washington College forward Latishia Pledger shined for the Shoreman with a double-double scoring 12 points with 10 rebounds.

Washington College came out to a fast start making their first three shots to take a 7-0 lead but the Bears charged back going on a 14-0 run behind Porada scoring eight points in almost three minutes.   But the Shoreman kept the game close with only trailing 28-31 going into halftime.

The Shoreman took a 36-35 lead with 16: 59 in the second but behind sophomore forward's Elana Roadcloud's performance the Bears battled their way back and controlled the rest of the game outscoring the Shorewoman 36-33 in the second half.

The Bears will need to win their final two games and get some help to securethe  fifth seed in the Centennial Conference playoffs.

Ursinus will look to even the series against Haverford next Wednesday at 6:00 in Haverford, Pa.
