Staying Alive

CARLISLE, Pa. – Ursinus sophomore forward Jessica Porada netted game-highs in both points (20) and rebounds (17) as the Bears (9-11, 6-8 Centennial) continued their push toward the Centennial Conference playoffs with a 60-47 win over Dickinson (4-16, 1-14 Centennial) on Saturday at the Kline Center.

Senior guard Diamond Lewis scored 17 points, and had five assists as the Bears find themselves two games back of the fifth and final playoff spot with just four games to go.

Dickinson was led by 15 points from Erica Buls.

Trailing 11-8, Ursinus went on a 13-0 run over a 2:32 in the middle portion of the first half to go up 21-11 on a layup by freshman forward Libby Lannon with 9:22 to go. Lannon made up for five of the 11 points during that run, with Lewis accounting for six and Porada two.

Dickinson would get back within four twice but trailed 26-20 at the half. In the second half, Ursinus went on a 10-0 second half over a span of 2:58 to go up ten and never look back. Dickinson would not get any closer than five the rest of the day.

Ursinus had a 39-30 edge in rebounding on the day, and shot 43 percent from the field.

The Bears host F&M on Wednesday night at 8, followed by a date with Washington on Saturday at 1.
