Women's Basketball falls to Haverford, 70-50

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus sophomore forward Jessica Porada recorded her second double- double in a row and her fourth of the season but it wasn't enough for Ursinus (6-11, 4-8 CC) to overcome Haverford (14-1, 8-1 CC) falling short 70-50 Tuesday night in Helfferich Gymnasium

Porada finished the game with 14 points and 16 rebounds while sophomore guard Alyssa Polimeni  scored 11 points shooting 50 percent (2-of-4) from the three-point line.

Haverford's Shannon Smith, Jacquelyne Pizzuto, Elizabeth Lynch and Nina Voith all scored double digits for a combined 52 of 70 points.

The Bears led 21-11 with nine minutes in the first half out rebounding the Fords 23-17 and scoring eight second chance points.

But their inability to execute from behind the arch, only shooting ten percent from the three-point line (1-of-10) allowed Haverford to take the lead 32-27 going into the half.

In the second half, Haverford finished strong with 29 rebounds and 38 points finishing off Ursinus.

Ursinus will look to even the series at Haverford on February 19th but the Bears will continue  at Helfferich on Thursday January 30th against Bryn Mawr (1-8) at 7 p.m.
