McDaniel squeaks by Women's Basketball, 55-50

WESTMINSTER, Md .–Ursinus sophomore forward Jessica Porada recorded her third double-double but the Bears (6-10, 4-7 CC) came up short against McDaniel (12-4, 7-3 CC) falling 55-50 Saturday afternoon at Gill Center Gymnasium.

McDaniel's Emma Wingerd also excelled with a double-double of her own, scoring 12 points, scooping 14 rebounds, causing three turnovers and adding four assists.

Porada finished with 19 points and 13 rebounds and freshman guard Gianna  Pownall tied a career-high of 14 points with five rebounds and two steals.

The Bears got off to a slow start, turning over the ball several times in the first half and wouldn't score until five minutes into the game, but only trailed 3-1.

Ursinus turned it around going on a 9-6 run to take a 10-9 lead at 9:57.  But, McDaniel outscored the Bears in the final ten minutes of play going into the locker room up 25-19.

In the second half, Ursinus outscored the Green Terror behind Porada and Pownall both supplying nine points in the second half and at 10:49 Pownall tied it up with a free throw making it 36-36.

In the final ten minutes both teams, went back and forth till Brittney Davis made two clutch free throws with 13 seconds left on the clock to put away the game.

Ursinus will face off against Haverford at home January 28th at 6 p.m.
