COLLEGEVILLE , Pa. – Ursinus College sophomore forward Caroline Shimrock scored a team-high 18 points, in leading the Bears (6-5, 4-2 Centennial) past Dickinson (3-9, 0-7 Centennial), 71-55, to snap a two-game losing streak Saturday afternoon in women's basketball play. 

The Bears overcame an early 11-1 run by Dickinson within the first three minutes of the game and held the Red Devils to 26 points in the first half.   Clawing back into the game behind a 58 percent shooting performance pushed the Bears into a comfortable 44-26 lead at the half.

Shimrock shot 50 percent from the field and had seven rebounds on the day.

Dickinson was led by Jennifer Smith with 15 points and five rebounds, while also shooting 50 percent from the field.  The Red Devils were also aided by Mary Martin, who had 13 points.

Sophomore guard Alyssa Polimeni had 17 points for Ursinus, while sophomore forward Jessica Porada had 11 rebounds as Ursinus enjoyed a 39-30 rebounding margin. The Bears also forced 18 Dickinson turnovers, turning them into 24 points.

Ursinus moves into third place in the Centennial Conference standings.

The Bears are back on the road Tuesday January 14th at Washington College and Gettysburg on Thursday January 16th.  Their next home game will be against Johns Hopkins on Saturday January 18th
