Women's Basketball drops season finale to Muhlenberg, 75-63

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Host Muhlenberg put four players in double figures as the Mules (17-8, 14-6 Centennial) clinched a first-round bye in the upcoming Centennial Conference tournament with a 75-63 win over Ursinus (12-13, 9-11 Centennial) on Saturday afternoon.

Alita Zabrecky led all scorers with 21 points, while Kate Clawson punched in 18. 

For Ursinus, freshman guard Alyssa Polimeni (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) scored a team-high 16 points with freshman forward Tori Steinberg (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) netted 14 points.

Freshman guard Caroline Shimrock (Lansdale, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) and senior forward Amber Yacenda (Downingtown, Pa./Dowingtown East) each scored nine in the loss. 

Despite never leading, Ursinus kept the game close until the final minute. In the first half, the Bears trailed by as much as seven points but tied the score three times including a 21-all stalemate at 7:24 left on a pair of foul shots by freshman forward Elana Roadcloud (Roslyn, Pa./Springside School). Roadcloud finished with seven points and a game-high nine rebounds.

Trailing by five at intermission, the Bears made one last push with under eight minutes as they got within two at 56-54 on a pair of foul shots by Steinberg. 

From there, Muhlenberg went on a 10-1 run to pull away.
