Shimrock hits game-winner as WBB downs Washington, 61-59

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus freshman forward Caroline Shimrock (Lansdale, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) scored a game-high 22 points, including the game-winning nine footer with just six seconds left as the Bears (12-12, 9-10 Centennial) held off Washington College (10-14, 8-11 Centennial) 61-59 on Wednesday night in women's basketball acton.

Shimrock was 8-for-16 from the field in the game and a perfect 5-5 from the foul line. Freshman guard Alyssa Polimeni (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston) had 14 points, while freshman forward Elana Roadcloud (Roslyn, Pa./Springside School) scored ten and grabbed six rebounds. 

Washington was led by 14 points from junior forward Latisha Pledger. The Shorewomen had tied the score at 59-all with 23 seconds left on a three-pointer by Kelly Mitchell, after the Shorewomen rallied from a six-point deficit. 

Washington had a six point lead with 17:16 left as Ursinus struggled from the field early on. The Bears shot just 25.7 percent from the field in the first half, but, found themselves up two at 31-29. Ursinus had 20 second chance points, despite being out rebounded 52-35. 

The Bears head to Muhlenberg on Saturday for the season finale.
