Women's Basketball falls to Johns Hopkins, 69-65

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's basketball team (11-12, 8-10 Centennial) fell to Johns Hopkins (14-10, 12-7 Centennial) by a score of 69-65 Saturday in Centennial Conference action.

The Bears were in control of the contest up four with 4:37 remaining, but were not able to hang on for the victory. Ursinus did get within one with 46 seconds left at 63-62 but could not get any closer

Ursinus was led by junior forward Devin Butchko (Cream Ridge, N.J./Villa Victoria Academy), who netted 14 points in the contest.  She was followed by freshman forward Tori Steinberg (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) who contributed twelve points in the loss.  Freshman guard Alyssa Polimeni (Berkeley Heights, N.J./ Governor Livingston High School) added eleven for the Bears.

Freshman forward Elena Roadcloud (Roslyn, Pa./Springside School) led Urisnus with eleven rebounds in the loss.

The Blue Jays were led by freshman guard Liz Tommasi (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon), who netted 24 on the afternoon.  Hopkins also had a stellar contribution from senior forward Alex Vasilla (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) who had 21 points and ten rebounds in the victory.

Prior to the game, Ursinus honored its lone senior in forward Amber Yacenda (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East)

The Bears are back in action on Wednesday as they host Washington.  Tip is set for 6:00 p.m.
