Women's Basketball stops losing streak with 63-51 win over McDaniel

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's basketball (9-10, 6-8 Centennial) team snapped a five-game losing skid with a 63-51 defeat of McDaniel College (8-11, 5-9 Centennial) on Tuesday evening at Helfferich Hall.

The Bears were led by freshman forward Caroline Shimrock (Landsdale, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy), who netted 20 points and grabbed four rebounds in the victory. 

Freshman forward Jessica Porada (Morristown, N.J./Morris Catholic) led the Bears on the glass, grabbing twelve rebounds as well as contributing twelve points in the effort.  Freshman guard Alyssa Polimeni (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston High School) had ten points in the outing.

McDaniel was led by guard Rachael Rybak , who netted 16 points in the effort. Guard Stephanie Perez contributed twelve points in the outing for the Green Terror. Guard Brittany Davis had nine points in the outing as well.

Ursinus led the entire game, including a 17-point lead at 48-31 with 10:47 left in the contest.

The Bears were able to nab nine steals in the effort and had a 44-31 rebounding edge.

The Bears travel to Bryn Mawr for a key Centennial Conference match-up Thursday evening. Tip is set for 7:00 pm.
