Late run pushes Dickinson over Women's Basketball, 68-57

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Dickinson outscored Ursinus 15-4 over the final 2:48 of the game as the Red Devils (11-7, 7-7 Centennial) defeated the Bears (8-10, 5-8 Centennial) 68-57 in women's basketball action on Saturday.

The Red Devils held Ursinus to just one field goal during that stretch and converted 10-of-12 foul shots to take the win.

Dickinson got 20 points from Belma Mekic and 17 points each from Dana Walsh and Bridget Borgese.

Ursinus was led by 12 points each from freshman forward Jessica Porada (Morristown, N.J./Morris Catholic) and freshman guard Alyssa Polimeni (Berkeley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston). Freshman forward Carolina Shimrock (Lansdale, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) scored ten points.

Ursinus led early, taking its biggest lead at 27-18 with 2:24 left in the first half on a layup by Polimeni. From there, the Red Devils closed within three at halftime on a short 8-2 run for a 29-26 deficit.

In the second half, Ursinus regained the lead and went up by as much as six points with 7:13 left before Dickinson rallied.

The Red Devils had a 39-33 on the glass with Walsh grabbing nine. Porada had a double-double, as she grabbed a game-high ten rebounds.

Ursinus hosts McDaniel on Tuesday.
