Women's Basketball takes out Gettysburg, 52-50

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Ursinus got 13 points from junior guard Diamond Lewis (East Windsor, N.J./Stuart Country Day) and 11 points from freshman forward Jessica Porada (Morristown, N.J./Morris Catholic) as the Bears (7-5, 4-3 Centennial) snapped Gettysburg's (7-5, 4-3 Centennial) three-game winning streak with a 52-50 win over the Bullets in women's basketball play on Tuesday night.

Freshman forward Tori Steinberg (Warrington, Pa./Central Bucks South) had nine points on three three-point field goals as Ursinus won its second straight Centennial game. 

Gettysburg got 21 points and 11 rebounds from junior forward Caroline Murphy, while freshman forward Jessica Porter had 14 points.

In a game that featured 11 lead changes and ten ties, the Bears held Gettysburg to just one field goal in the final 2:17. Porada sank a pair of foul shots with 49 seconds left to give Ursinus the lead for good at 50-48. Lewis then made 1-of-2 with 20 seconds left for a three-point lead. After Murphy made a layup with two ticks left, Porada made 1-of-2 with one second left to seal the win. 

Ursinus won despite only making 25 percent of their field goals (15-for-60), but, held a 43-40 edge in rebounding with a commanding 18-11 lead in offensive rebounds. Porada had eight rebounds for Ursinus, with Lewis grabbing seven.

Both teams traded the lead in the first half, before Ursinus would go up five at 22-17 on a three-pointer by Steinberg. Gettysburg would rally to within one at 24-23, before two Lewis foul shots with 52 seconds left gave Ursinus a 26-23 intermission lead. 

In the second half, Ursinus took its biggest lead at 40-34 with 11:26 left on a three-pointer by Tori Steinberg. Gettysburg, however, would go on a 8-0 run to take a 42-40 lead capped by a three-pointer by sophomore forward Jenna Swope. A short 6-1 run gave Ursinus a 46-43 lead with 4:35 left in regulation.
