Women's Basketball drops opener, 75-67, to Moravian

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Visiting Moravian put all five starters in double figures as the Greyhounds (1-0) opened up the season with a 75-67 win over Ursinus (0-1) in women's basketball play Thursday night.

Moravian got 19 points and 15 rebounds sophomore forward Alexis Wright, while junior guard Katie O'Rourke had 14 points. The Greyhounds, who trailed by as much as seven in the first half, rallied to take a 32-29 lead at intermission. From there, Moravian opened the second half by going on a 8-0 run and never looked back, as they led by as much as 20.

Ursinus was led by junior guard Diamond Lewis (East Windsor, N.J./Stuart Country Day) who had a game-high 21 points. Freshman forward Caroline Shimrock (Lansdale, Pa./Gwynedd-Mercy Academy) and freshman guard Alyssa Polimeni (Berkley Heights, N.J./Governor Livingston Regional) each had 13 points in the loss.

Wright's 15 rebounds were part of a 53-43 edge in rebounding for the Greyhounds.

Ursinus will travel to Susquehanna University on Saturday, to face Cortland State in the Pepsi Tip-Off Tournament at 6 p.m.
