SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Ursinus senior forward Jackie Thomas (Philadelphia, Pa./Little Flower) scored 11 points off of the bench on 4-of-5 shooting, including 3-for-3 from the three-point line as Ursinus (8-9, 7-5 Centennial) kept pace in the Centennial Conference playoff hunt with a 46-39 win over Swarthmore (7-9, 5-7 Centennial) Saturday afternoon.
Ursinus shot only 24.6 percent from the field (14-for-57), but was a robust 80 percent from the free throw line (12-for-15), while Swarthmore was only 52.6 percent.
Senior forward Lindsey Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's) had nine points, as she continues to creep closer to 1,000 career points.
For Swarthmore, Katie Lytle had a game-high 16 points with Elle Larsen chipping in with 11.
Ursinus led wire-to-wire in the contest, jumping out to an 8-1 lead with 15:25 left. Swarthmore would rally to within one, but, the Bears went back to a nine-point lead at 21-12.
In the second half, Swarthmore would get within two at 38-36 with five minutes left. The Garnet however, would make just one field goal in the final five minutes.
Ursinus hosts Washington College on Wednesday in a key Centennial Conference matchup.
