Walking the Line

Collegeville, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's basketball team improved to 7-8 with a 59-51 decision over visiting McDaniel College Saturday at Helfferich Hall.  The Bears sank 28 of 34 free throws, with the Bears last 19 points coming from the charity stripe.

Leading the Bears (7-8, 6-4 Centennial) offensively was senior forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's), who had a double-double on the afternoon with 23 points and13 rebounds, 8 coming off of the defensive glass.  Sophomore guard Diamond Lewis (East Windsor, N.J./Stuart Country Day) contributed 14 in the effort while senior guard Kristy George (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) netted 10 for Ursinus.

McDaniel (7-8, 4-7 Centennial) was lead by freshman guard Steph Perez, who netted 19 in the losing effort.  Freshman forward Emma Wingerd collected a game-high 14 rebounds for the Green Terror.

After a tightly contested first half sent the Bears into the intermission facing a 23-21 deficit, the Bears broke open the game with a 7-0 run to open the second half.  With the game tied 29-all with 12:38 to play in the second half, Ursinus yet again outpaced McDaniel with a 20-9 run to go up 49-38 with 3:20 remaining in the contest.

After a late charge brought the Green Terror within seven  with 00:46 remaining in the game, the Bears hit five of six free throws to ensure the victory.

Ursinus returns to action this Wednesday, visiting conference-leading Muhlenberg College.  Tip off is set for 6 pm.
