Working Double Time

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus sophomore guard Diamond Lewis picked up a key steal 13 seconds left, then sank two foul shots with nine ticks left lifting the Bears (6-7, 5-3 Centennial) to a 58-54 win over Franklin & Marshall (9-4, 6-2 Centennial) in double overtime on Tuesday night.

Leading the Bears was senior forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's), had a double-double on the evening, netting 21 points and grabbing 13 rebounds. Sophomore guard Diamond Lewis (East Windsor, N.J./Stuart Country Day) contributed 12 points in 44 minutes for Ursinus while senior guard Alli Rosati (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East) netted 11 points for the Bears.

Ursinus sported a seven point lead with 4:04 remaining in the game, but a jump shot by Franklin & Marshall's Allison Bauer with five seconds left pushed the game into extra minutes with both teams knotted at 47.

The first overtime period saw both squads locked up at 51-all after 5 minutes, with Teuber nailing two lay-ups for the Bears and Bauer and Pauley combining for four for the Diplomats.

A toughly-contested second-overtime period saw Ursinus pull ahead late, Teuber, Rosati, and Lewis combined for seven as the Bears went on to pull out the victory.

Ursinus was out-rebounded 57 to 44 in the win, while shooting 37% from the field while Franklin & Marshall shot 27% on the evening.

The Bears return to action Thursday evening, paying a visit to Gettysburg College for a 6 pm tilt with the Bullets.
