Women's Basketball falls to sixth-ranked William Paterson, 64-49

YORK, Pa. – April Smith netted 23 points as the Pioneers of William Paterson University, ranked sixth in the country by D3Hoops.com, downed Ursinus by a score of 64-49 in the semifinal of the Coaches Versus Cancer Classic held at the Charles Wolf Gymnasium at York (Pa.) College on Thursday.

Smith was not the only Pioneer to score in the double digits, as Floriana Borova had 13 on the evening.  

The Bears were paced by sophomore guard Diamond Lewis (East Windsor, N.J./Stuart Country Day), who had 15 points on 5-for-10 shooting for Ursinus. Senior guard Alli Rosati (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East) contributed eight points for Ursinus while grabbing four rebounds.  Senior forward Lindsay Tueber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's), netted six points and grabbed nine rebounds, seven of which came on the defensive glass.  

Ursinus came out strong early in the contest, starting the game on a 7-3 run with field goals from Teuber and Rosati as well as senior guard Jen Sroba (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North).  

William Patterson closed out the last three minutes of the first half on a 10-0 to take a 34-21 lead at the half.

The Bears will take on FDU-Florham in the consolation game Friday afternoon at 1.
