Women's Basketball hands Hopkins first conference loss, 79-75, in overtime

BALTIMORE, Md. – Sophomore forward Amber Yacenda (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) hit a three-pointer from the right wing with just two seconds left in regulation, sent Ursinus into overtime with Centennial front runner Johns Hopkins.

In the overtime period, the Bears (9-3, 6-2 Centennial) outlasted the Blue Jays (9-2, 6-1 Centennial) 14-10 in an important 79-75 victory in Baltimore.

For Ursinus, junior forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's) had 17 points and a game-best 12 rebounds, with freshman guard Diamond Lewis (East Windsor, N.J./Stuart Country Day) scoring 13. Junior guard Alli Rosati (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East) and senior guard Jaclyn Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) each had 12 points, while freshman forward Sarah Martin (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) added in ten as the Bears bounced back from the tough loss to McDaniel to hand Johns Hopkins its first conference defeat.

For the Blue Jays, Siobhan Callanan had 24 points, with Chantel Mattiola adding in 15.

In the overtime period, two foul shots by Teuber gave the Bears at 67-65 lead at 4:15, followed by a layup by Lewis with 3:45 left to give the Bears a 69-65 advantage.

Back-to-back layups by Mattiola and Alex Vassila retied the score at 69-all with 2:17 left. From there, Ursinus would go on a 6-0 run to take the lead for good , as Hopkins would get to within two on a three pointer with 12 seconds left.

Ursinus had a 41-30 lead on the glass in the win, and will take on F&M in Lancaster Tuesday night.
