Women's Basketball gets defensive in 44-33 win over Dickinson

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Ursinus College women's basketball team got defensive in its 44-33 win over Dickinson on Saturday in Carlisle, holding the Red Devils (3-5, 1-4 Centennial) to just 26 percent shooting from the field in the win.

The Bears (7-2, 5-1 Centennial) got 13 points from junior forward Lindsey Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's) while freshman guard Diamond Lewis (East Windsor, N.J./Stuart County Day School) hit for ten points on 4-of-5 shooting. Senior guard Jaclyn Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) chipped in with eight points.

Ursinus won despite committing 26 turnovers, and improved to 5-1 in league play which keeps them one game back of Johns Hopkins and Muhlenberg.

Dickinson took the lead early, going up by as much as eight points at 11-3 with 13:59 left on a layup by Alesha Sisco. After Sisco hit two foul shots with 12:20 left, the Red Devils made just two field goals the rest of the first half. The last field goal came with 7:18 left, which put Dickinson up 17-14.

From there, the Bears closed the half on a 11-0 run, tying the score at 17-all with 6:05 left on a three-pointer by Hilf. A pair of foul shots from Lewis put Ursinus in the lead for the first time 19-17. A jumper by Teuber with 1:02 left gave Ursinus a 25-17 halftime edge.

In the second half, Ursinus led the entire way. Dickinson would only get to within two a jumper by Sisco with 15:38 left, before Ursinus went 6-0 run and never looked back.

Ursinus had a 36-27 edge on the glass, with Teuber grabbing 12. Teuber picked up her sixth double-double of the season. The Bears pause for finals, before hosting Albright in a holiday matinee at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, December 21.
