Women's Basketball wins CC opener over McDaniel

WESTMINSTER, Md. – Ursinus College junior forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's) scored a team-high 19 points and grabbed a game-best 17 rebounds as Ursinus (3-1, 1-0 Centennial) continued its hot start with a 70-59 win over McDaniel (0-3, 0-1 Centennial) Tuesday night in the Centennial opener for both squads.

Senior guard Jaclyn Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) scored 11 off the bench, while freshman forward Devin Butchko (Cream Ridge, N.J./Villa Victoria Academy) had 10 as the Bears shot over 50 percent (27-for-53) from the field in the game and outrebounded the Green Terror 36-28.

For McDaniel, Whitney Snoops scored 19, with Kim Acton adding in ten.

After the hosts took the lead at 3-0, following a jumper by Snoops, Ursinus took the lead for good on a jumper by junior guard Kristy George (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) with 17:49 left in the game.

Following an Emma Adams foul shot, which tied the game at 4-all, Ursinus took the lead for good at 8-6 with 12:05 to go on a layup by Teuber. McDaniel would get within one twice, but, could not tie the score. That allowed Ursinus to build the lead back up to as high as 13 points, on a jumper by Butchko with 22 seconds left making the halftime score 38-25.

In the second half, Ursinus did not let the lead dip below five (48-43) and led by as much as 16.

Ursinus will host Franklin & Marshall on Tuesday.
