Women's Basketball wins opener over Elizabethtown, 51-50

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Ursinus College senior guard Jaclyn Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) canned one-of-two free throws with just three seconds left as the Bears (1-0) defeated Elizabethtown (1-1) 51-50 on Wednesday in women's basketball play.

Junior forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's) had a team-high 18 points and 13 rebounds as she shot 7-for-14 from the field. Junior forward Kristy George (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) had 11 points for the Bears.

Trailing 18-11 with 4:10 left in the first half, Ursinus went on a 7-0 run to tie the score at 18-all with just 1:51 left on a pair of free throws by junior guard Jen Sroba (Newtown, Pa./Council Rock North). Freshman forward Sarah Martin's (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East) basket with just nine seconds left sent the teams into intermission locked at 23.

Ursinus took its first second half lead at 28-26 with 14:28 left on a jumper by Hilf. The Bears later took their largest lead to date at 35-29 with 12:25 left on a three-pointer by Hilf.

Two foul shots by Thomas with 5:15 left in the game gave Ursinus a 45-38 lead.

Nadine Yunginger led Elizabethtown with 14 points.

Ursinus heads to DeSales for their tip-off tournament on Friday, taking on the host Bulldogs.
