Bears get key CC win over McDaniel, 71-63

 

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Ursinus sophomore forward Lindsay Teuber (Phiadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's) scored a game and career-high 27 points, and grabbed 14 rebounds as Ursinus (11-12, 8-10 Centennial) surprised McDaniel (17-6, 15-4 Centennial) 71-63 on Saturday in women's basketball play.

The Bears, needing to win out to keep their playoff hopes alive for the second straight game, also got 11 points each from junior forward Alex Shivers (Pine Beach, N.J./Toms River South) and sophomore guard Alli Rosati (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East).

For McDaniel, senior center Ashley Lyles had 18 points, with freshman guard Katelyn Fischer adding in ten.

Ursinus used a 46-point second-half to win, outscoring McDaniel 11-6 over a span of just under three minutes in the latter portion of the second half.

Leading by one 53-52 with 5:22 left, Ursinus got a pair of foul shots from Teuber with 5:10 left to go up three at 55-52. Following a three-pointer by Fischer, Ursinus got a jumper by Rosati to back up two at 57-55 with 4:30 left.

The big jumper came from senior guard Laura Krieger (Poughkeepsie, N.Y./Our Lady of Lourdes) with 3:38 left as she hit a three-pointer to go up 60-55. Teuber would add two more foul shots, followed by two more free throws from junior guard Jaclyn Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) with 2:44 left.

Ursinus overcame a nine-point first half deficit in the win, as the Bears trailed 24-15 with 4:56 left in the opening half.

Ursinus had a 39-29 lead on the glass, and forced 20 Green Terror turnovers.

 

The Bears travel to Washington on Wednesday.
