WBB loses on buzzer beater to Washington, 59-58

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Washington College sophomore guard Meghan Tait sank a three-pointer from the top of the key at the buzzer as the Shorewomen (7-11, 5-8 Centennial) handed Ursinus (8-10, 5-8 Centennial) a 59-58 crushing loss on Wednesday night in women's basketball play.

Tait, who scored a game-high 22 points, sank her shot from just outside the line as the final horn sounded, giving the Shorewomen the win.

Ursinus had a ten-point lead with 4:46 to go in the half, but, made just one field goal the rest of the way.

Sophomore guard Sally O'Donnell finished with 12 points for Washington.

For Ursinus, senior forward Julie Bown (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Penn Charter) had a team-high 14 points, while sophomore guard Alli Rosati (Jamison, Pa./C.B. East) had 11 points. Sophomore forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Hubert's) and junior forward Alex Shivers (Pine Beach, N.J./Toms River South) each had ten points in the loss.

After being tied at 26 at the half, Ursinus pulled out to a 46-36 lead with 9:53 to go on a layup by Rosati. The biggest lead came on a layup by Bown with 7:49 left for a 48-36 edge.

Washington had a 39-33 lead on the glass, with senior forward Julie Sherwood grabbing a game-high 13 for Washington. Teuber had six caroms for Ursinus.

Junior guard Jaclyn Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin) did finish with five assists for Ursinus, which was a game-high.

Ursinus will host F&M on Monday.
