WBB blocked by F&M, 57-55

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - Franklin &Marshall put three players in double figures as the Diplomats (8-11, 5-10 Centennial) defeated Ursinus (8-11, 5-9 Centennial) 57-55 Monday night in women's basketball play.

Megan Pauley had a team-high 14 points, while Beth Holt added in 13. Holt also came up with a key defensive play as she blocked a potential game-winning three-pointer by Ursinus junior guard Jaclyn Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin).

Alexa Barbush also had 12 for the Diplomats.

For Ursinus, sophomore forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's) tied a season-high by scoring 19 points also grabbing 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Alli Rosati (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East) added in 13, while junior forward Alex Shivers (Pine Beach, N.J./Toms River South) had ten points.

Ursinus had its largest lead in the first half at eight points when Rosati hit a layup to give the Bears a 12-4 lead. Franklin & Marshall would go on a 10-2 scoring run to tie the score at 14-all, before taking the lead at 22-20 with 4:58 left on a layup by Pauley.

Leading 27-23 at intermission, F&M saw Ursinus retake the lead at 31-29 with 17:42 left on a three-pointer by Rosati.

Ursinus last held the lead at 33-31 with 16:27 left on a layup by Shivers. F&M took the lead for good at 35-33 with 15:25 left on a layup by Pauley.

Ursinus would trail by one with 1:20 left as Teuber made a layup for a 56-55 F&M lead. Barbush would hit one of two free throws with five seconds left, but, Ursinus could not pull even.

F&M had a 37-36 lead in rebounds, with Amy Chabitnoy grabbing seven for the Dips.
