READING, Pa. - Save for one tie at 2-all, the Ursinus Women's
Basketball team led wire-to-wire as the Bears (1-0) won their
season opener with a 62-54 win over Rowan (1-2) Saturday afternoon
at the Albright Tip-Off Tournament.
Senior forward Julie Bown (Lower Gwynedd, Pa./Penn
Charter) finished with a game-high 18 points, while
sophomore forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St.
Basil's) added in 13 points and a game-high 17
rebounds.
Sophomore guard Alli Rosati (Jamison, Pa./C.B.
East) had 11 rebounds as the Bears held a 52-34 advantage
on the glass. Senior center Carolyn Konstanzer (Hilltown,
Pa./Pennridge) had 11 points off the bench for
Ursinus.
Alissa Lamey and Ashley Russo had 12 points each for Rowan.
With the score 8-6 in favor of Ursinus, the Bears pulled away via a
13-0 run and were never threatened. The lead grew to as high as 18
points in the first half (30-12) on a pair of foul shots by Bown
with 4:21 left.
Leading 31-16 at halftime, Ursinus took its biggest lead of the
game at 43-23 with 11:46 left on a three-pointer by Bown.
Rowan would cut it to five with 2:36 left on a layup by Lamey, but,
could not get any closer.
Ursinus will play either PSU-Harrisburg or Albright on Sunday.
