Johns Hopkins sweeps season series from women's basketball, 63-44

BALTIMORE, Md. - Johns Hopkins freshman forward Alex Vassila scored a game-high 15 points off the bench as the Blue Jays (6-6, 4-4 Centennial) handed Ursinus (6-6, 4-4 Centennial) a 63-44 loss in Centennial Conference women's basketball play on Tuesday night.

Junior forward Lyndsay Burton had 14 points for Hopkins, while senior forward Monica Mitchell added in eight.

For Ursinus, sophomore forward Lindsay Teuber (Philadelphia, Pa./St. Basil's) had 12 points.

Ursinus started the game on a 5-0 run on a three-pointer by sophomore guard Alli Rosati (Jamison, Pa./Central Bucks East), followed by a jumper from Teuber. Hopkins would take the lead for good at 15-14 with 13:33 left on a pair of foul shots from senior guard Anastasia Wynn.

Ursinus would stay as close at 19-17 with 11:52 to go a three-pointer by junior guard Jaclyn Hilf (Maple Glen, Pa./Upper Dublin). The Blue Jays would hold Ursinus to just two field goals the rest of the half en route to a 34-22 halftime edge.

In the second half, Ursinus would get as close as seven on a foul shot by Teuber with 15:14 to go making the score 38-31.

Ursinus was outrebounded 43-38 with Burton collecting ten. Teuber and Rosati had six caroms each for the Bears.

Ursinus travels to McDaniel on Thursday for a 6 p.m. tip.
